Donna Marie Miller

Donna Marie Miller went home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2024 in Visalia, California at the age of 99. She was born in Visalia to parents William and Katherine Hester on July 18, 1924. Donna grew up on her family's ranch west of Farmersville and attended Union Elementary School. She routinely walked a mile and a half each way to attend, a remarkable feat even if it wasn't uphill or through the snow. Donna Marie was active in 4H Club in her youth, and frequently amazed her children with her knowledge of local crops and wildflowers, as well as her ability to grow just about anything. She graduated from Visalia High School in 1942 and attended business college in San Jose. Returning to Visalia, she met and married Paul V. Miller in 1944. After a brief stint living in Sacramento, they returned to Visalia where they both lived for their remaining years. The majority of Donna Marie's time was spent as a homemaker, raising three sons and two daughters. Donna Marie was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for most of her life, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and was a Past Grand Regent of the same. Her love for the Lord and consideration for others provided a firm foundation for her children's own faith journey. Donna Marie loved nature, often reminiscing fondly about childhood memories spent with extended family members in the mountains of Mineral King or on the Central Coast at Cayucos. She especially loved spending time on the beach, watching the waves roll in while children and grandchildren played around her. Donna Marie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, and daughter Kathy Montgomery. She is survived by daughter Cindy Pena, sons Richard, Steve and Michael, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren, all of which held a special place in her heart. A private graveside service will be held at Visalia Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many individuals that helped to care for Donna Marie in recent years. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in support of Seva Hospice of Visalia, Ca. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
