Donald David Ajluni

Donald David Ajluni, born Sunday 3/12/1950 and died Sunday, 1/29/2023. "...and the child that is born on the Sabbath day, is fair and wise and good and gay." That was our Don, or as some of us preferred to call him, Donnie: goodhearted, generous of spirit, fun-loving, witty, and joyfully charming. He loved to tell a good (or bad) joke, and repeat it as many times and to as many people as he could. His life's work for over 40 years was occupational therapy, treating the sick and injured with care and compassion. He worked at hospitals in San Jose, Los Angeles, Lancaster, Omaha, Nebraska and most recently in Visalia. There were many times when people would stop him on the street or in the market, and thank him for what he did for them, their mom, dad or brother. He loved what he did and cared deeply for those entrusted to his care. Outside of work, his passion was acting. He loved to ham it up on stage in local theater productions, and rejoiced when audiences would laugh at his scenes. His ultimate goal was to get a paid "something" in Hollywood; and though he did garner a few paid mini roles in commercials, TV shows and independent films, the "Big One" eluded him, though he never tired of submitting for roles. Perhaps in the next life, Donnie! Our Don was the fifth child born to the late Bajis and Miriam Ajluni, sharing a socially active life in Detroit with his brothers Peter, William and Richard, and sisters Alice, Noel (deceased), and Diane. Their home was always bustling with friends and relatives coming and going. He grew to love being around a lot of people, and always saw the best in everyone he met. Don married Nariman Sahouria on February 5, 1978, and the two enjoyed almost 45 years of togetherness. With Nariman, he fathered three sons, David, Christopher and Joseph (deceased at birth). When son David married his sweetheart Shannan in 2006, Don welcomed Shannan's kids Pamela and Robert into the family as his own grandkids. He rejoiced when David gave him two more grandkids to love, Joseph Donald and Oliver George Ajluni. His grandkids, and later great-grandkids, Tristan and Olivia, as well as all their friends, called him Sedo. He was the beloved grandfather to all. We and the many friends and relatives he leaves behind, will greatly miss our Don. As his dad Bajis used to say, Don "was a good Ajluni; one of the best!" Viewing will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at St. George & St. Bishoy Coptic Orthodox Church, 1320 S Church St, Visalia.
