NAME: Carlos Manuel Herrera AGE: 63 RESIDENT OF: Tulare DATE OF DEATH: April 2, 2015 OCCUPATION: Shipping/Receiving PLACE OF DEATH: Tulare Carlos Herrera of Tulare passed away on April 2, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was 63 years old. He was born September 14, 1951 to Carlos & Victoria Herrera in Woodlake, CA. He was raised in Woodlake graduating from Woodlake High School in 1970. He was involved in sports: football, basketball and track. He also attended COS. In 1973, he started working for Reichhold Chemicals Inc. in Visalia, CA where he dedicated 40 years working in production and warehouse as a shipping/receiving manager officially retiring in 2014. In 1974, he met the love of his life, Sally Lizardo and they married on March 27, 1976. Just recently they celebrated 39 years of marriage. They have 3 children, Michael Herrera, Gabriel Herrera (Kimberly) and one daughter Desiree Sorsby (Billy) all of Tulare. Carlos was a fun loving person who loved his family and friends. He was always the life of the party easily making friends and making people laugh. He loved to BBQ, entertaining family and friends at his home. He also loved Mexican music, dancing and camping at the coast with his family. He was a true Oakland Raider fan and enjoyed watching football with his sons never giving up on his team! Carlos loved golfing with his brothers, sons and friends. He always had a passion for yard work, gardening and always lending a helping hand to others. He and his wife loved to travel with their friends to places like Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. He also enjoyed going on local trips and to the casino. Carlos is survived by his wife and children. He leaves behind his brothers – Alex Herrera of Exeter, Basil Herrera of Ceres, Salome Herrera of Ivanhoe and Manuel Herrera of Visalia, Sisters – Mary Hernandez of Woodlake and Cathie Chavira of Cutler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and in laws. The family would like to thank Dr. Parmod Kumar and staff, Dr. Samuel Kuo and staff, PJ Soto and Abby Fiori (nurses of Optimal Hospice) for all their care during Carlos’ illness. The family would also like to thank all of the many people who gave their love and support during this past year. Funeral arrangements are as follow: Viewing will be Thursday, April 9- 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Salser and Dillard – 127 E. Caldwell, Visalia, CA; followed by a Rosary at 6:00PM. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 10 at St Rita’s Church (924 So O St, Tulare, CA) at 10:00AM. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Tulare.
